I decided I had had enough of Fry's Electronics promises, so made plans and left them at the end of May 2019. I have been semi retired since. I was going to job hunt, but the pandemic stopped that. Many people needed the job more than I. Though I still worked as needed as an Election Deputy/Judge at various locations around the county. FF to 2025...I am working to get out of the pandemic routine, lose weight, and job hunt. My main goal is to build the quonset dream house I have been designing(some pics below). So income is very important. I designed the house using Designsoft MyHouse for this as it was the only one that let me design a half round Roof object(these cut off walls as needed). But, version 14 from almost 10 years ago needs bug fixes and some new features. What have I been doing? In 2019, I started playing Minecraft(R) on my PS4. Still do. And its my original world! See the PS4 page in Games for this and several more games. In 2021, I completed the Google IT Professional course. It was fun. I learned a lot about how the internet works, but really have to re-read all of it again. Maybe a jump off point for work. In 2024, I bought a 3d printer(a Bamboo P1S with AMS). Really fun to finish many of my stalled projects. My portable Lynx/Pi media center got a big boost by printing a display adapter frame, and wedging in a holder for two 18650 batteries. And a cool 4x4 switch matrix grid, an led holder for my solar lamppost light, replacement feet for a couple of mahjong/dominoe holders, an 8" round display case with optional leds for some Minecraft collectables, a wall PADD for my new house, and a small 3d replica of my quonset home. Some of these may be for sale, and/or I will post the STL files. For many years, I have made an LED Christmas Tree/ornament project. I think I have 13 now. Several use the serial programmed ws type RGB leds. So they work well with the default rgb led program I put in the controller but I need to get busy with Python and create programs that are specific to each project. So I am learning a lot about programs for arduino, raspberry pi and zero, and wemos. I did finally make the two Hypertrees from Elecktor magazine, but the displays are garbage. So there is an unplanned project. |
